Longing for the Messiah

In this piece of sculpture, I am trying to portray an orthodox rabbi. He is holding the law represented in the scrolls, with respect, but this is holding them down. He is not reading, but looking off into the distance with a sad, forlorn look. The thought that there must be something more than just the law… the Messiah.
